The Majestic Lady 'the Meije'

she is Impressive yet intimidating, she offers her beauty to those who come to seek her. The level is demanding, but the reward is phenomenal.

From the summit of Pic Blanc, 'the Meije' seems inaccessible. The stories told precede her and skiers usually prefer to be content with the Sarenne track rather than venturing to the 'Majestic Lady'.
And yet ... surmounted by its peak at 3,983 metres above sea level, the Meije invites you to explore, to endure the adrenaline rush. But definitely not in all conditions! safety is paramount and an instructor from esf Alpe d'Huez accompanies you for the day, and guides you in the meanders of this off-piste giant.

The 'Majestic Lady' programme details

The success of this trip will depend on weather conditions. If conditions require adjustments or suspension of this programme we will notify you the day before.
DVA initiation mandatory if not used to it !
The Day
  • Meet at 8am at esf Alpe d’Huez.
  • We take the bus to reach the Grave station, 45 minutes away.
  • Safety is a priority! Distribution of safety equipment before departure and preparation for the outing: snow conditions, weather etc..
  • We depart at around 9.30 in the direction of the second section of the Meije cable car, at an altitude of 3,200 m. Take the time to admire a unique panorama, the adventure begins.
  • We attack the first slopes of the valleys of the Meije, with your instructor who will have chosen the best route according to the conditions.
  • The program is spread over two half-days, seperated with a meal at the 'La Cabine' restaurant to rest and regain strength.
  • Return to esf at the end of the day.
